Wrath & Gunfire: The Barvan Campaign
Elves of Middian tend to like natural surroundings, particularly forests and deserts. The people as a whole tend to be a little arrogant, believing that they were the first to be created, the first to meet the gods, the first to start developing their culture. This is probably not true, but don’t tell that to an elf. Elves are, therefore, a bit more isolationist than the other races. They like to have their own cities and communities, even while surrounded by other cultures and races. If a city is not dominated by elves, there will be one particular section that is, like a city within a city.
They tend to prefer their isolated little conclaves buried out in the wilderness more than the cities, though. Elves exist on every continent and in every country, except the Winterlands. Elves may visit there, but there’s no elven community that far north—they prefer the heat, especially dry, arid heat.
As a race, Elves favor nature gods like the Whirlwind, the Waterfowl, and the Heron, but their religion is more mixed than some of the other races, as they revere all gods equally (and believe that they have a special in with them). It’s more common for an Elf to choose a god to follow based on their own occupation, personality, and predilections, rather than their heritage the way dwarves do. Elven sailors worship Leviathan or another sea god, elven agriculturists follow the Boars, elven wizards like the Stranger and the Prism, elven rogues favor the Rabbit, elven warriors prefer the Wolf or even the Tiger, and so on.
